Not much is known about the personal life of Geertruida Margaretha Jacoba Huidekoper. She was born in Amsterdam in 1824 and mainly painted flower and fruit pieces, presumably as a hobby. Judging by her work, she painted in the tradition of the 18th-century Dutch stately still life, of which Jan van Huysum (1682-1749) was the most important representative.
