Han Rädecker, like his father John Rädecker (1885-1956), was a sculptor and worked in both stone and bronze. He also painted and drew, as a monumental artist he made wall objects in ceramics and mosaics. At the age of 14, Han was an apprentice in his father's studio, who wanted to train him to become an animal sculptor. With a scholarship, he was able to go to Paris to further develop his skills. Rädecker always stayed close to nature in portraying his subject; animals were his favorite theme, but humans also inspired him.
