Loek Bos

Three donkeys
bronze 17.0 x 42.0 cm, signed on the bottom and dated 2012

This sculpture was previously for sale.

Provenance: Kunstzaal Van Heijningen, Den Haag.

Loek Bos was born in The Hague in 1946, the son of the director of the Gypsum Museum at the Royal Academy of Art. He later also studied at this Hague academy and became a member of the Haagste Kunstkring and of Pulchri Studio, where he was chairman from 2004-2007. Although he also paints, Bos mainly produces sculptures, both free work and commissioned. Several statues of him can be found in public space, such as his Toon Hermans in Sittard. Bos works in various materials such as wood, copper, bronze and steel and strives for technical perfection in every material. He almost never works in series, but makes one copy of a sculpture. Bos draws his inspiration from his daily environment: people, animals, musicians dominate his oeuvre, although sometimes a fantasy creature is created by combining half animal, half human.
