Oswald Weckebach initially worked as a painter, woodcarver and graphic artist. On the advice of John Rädecker, he starts sculpting, where his talent lies. Many commands follow. From 1936 he is extraordinary professor of sculpture at the Delft University of Technology. Wenckebach mainly works in bronze and wood, including portraits, war memorials and designs medals. His 'Meneer Jacques' is a fictional figure of which the artist creates a series of small sculptures in different poses. Large versions of the different types have been installed at various places in the country.
