Was a wanderlust artist, which is reflected in his paintings. He usually made mountain and forest landscapes, for which he clearly got inspiration abroad. The upholstery was occasionally provided by G.A. van der Brugghen (1811-1891), and sometimes by A.J. Couwenberg (1806-1844). In 1836-37 he travels to Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Savoy and France. A few years later, in 1843-44 he and Willem Bodeman went to Italy, and in 1846 again to France and Germany. He also visited England that year. Dubourcq was taught by Andreas Schelfhout in the 1930s, adopted his ideas about composition, but developed his own differentiated style. His work is well represented in Dutch museums. The Rijksmuseum and Museum Fodor in Amsterdam, the Haags Gemeentemuseum, Het Teylers Musuem in Haarlem and Museum Boymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam, among others, own work by his hand.
