Sorella didn't begin painting until she was 50: still lifes, self-portraits, and portraits of literary and historical figures. She also created depictions of fantasy and wonder, in which things seem to take on a life of their own. Painted in a naive and poetic style, they reflect her sensitive yet intense view of the world. Besides the portraits, she often painted her tomcat, Woollah, an angora cat, black with green eyes. An animal that played a significant role in her life.
