Little is known about the private life of Vittorio Schiavon. Initially the painter lived and worked in Trieste, but at the beginning of the twentieth century he moved to Amsterdam. He had contacts with other painters there through his membership of the artists' association 'De Onafhankelijken'. Between 1913 and 1917 he exhibited at their annual exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum. During this period he mainly painted lively Amsterdam cityscapes, landscapes and figures. His work is characterized by a colourful and warm palette. The female artist Nola Hatterman was one of his students. He also taught his children. . Museums: Amsterdam Historical Museum.
