The female nude plays an important role in the oeuvre of the Belgian sculptor Emiel de Block. This inspires him to create stylized or subtly abstracted shapes in marble and bronze. The sculptor feels very deeply the relationship between the different arts. He sees similarities with his work in music and poetry. De Block studied at the academy of Ghent and has won numerous prizes for his work.
