Jits Bakker worked as an independent artist for over 45 years. Sculpting in bronze and marble was his great passion, but he was also active as a painter, glass artist, graphic artist and made jewelry. His images generally have great dynamics: expressive movement and exuberance are characteristic of his work. But 'silent', intimate images are also part of his oeuvre. The human being is Bakker's most important subject. Classical mythology is an important source of inspiration here. His work is included in many museum, public and private collections at home and abroad.
