The oeuvre of the Amsterdam artist Theo Beerendonk is diverse and shows a clear style development from figuration to abstraction. He painted, but also made sculptures. Flowers, portraits and figure pieces, the female nude, still lifes and self-portraits were his subjects. Beerendonk was educated at the academy in Amsterdam, led by J.H. Jurres and Hendrik Jan Wolter. He was a member of the Arti et Amicitiae and St. Lucas artists' societies in the capital. The Singer Museum in Laren and the Centraal Museum in Utrecht have included work by Beerendonk in the collection; Various companies, institutions and private individuals also bought his work.
