Flowers, portraits and figure pieces, the female nude, still lifes and self-portraits were his subjects. Beerendonk was educated at the academy in Amsterdam, led by J.H. Jurres and Hendrik Jan Wolter. He was a member of the Arti et Amicitiae and St. Lucas artists' societies in the capital.
