Adriaan van Noort

The Keukenhof, Lisse
oil on canvas 40.2 x 80.1 cm, signed l.r.

This painting was previously for sale.

'Arie-Kees' van Noort worked for a long time as a house painter for his father's painting company, while in the evenings he took drawing and painting lessons with Henri Fréderic Boot, the teacher of Anton Heyboer and Kees Verwey, among others. Van Noort preferred to go out 'en plein air' mainly to paint beach scenes and flower fields. In 1942 he joined the society 'Kunst Zij ons Doel', a professional association of visual artists in Haarlem. Van Noort participated in various exhibitions. The demand for his work was already great and when he stopped as a house painter, he broke through as a painter in 1977. Van Noort can be characterized as the last representative of the Hague School. The Historical Museum in Deventer, among others, owns his work and his son, Alexander, is also active as an artist.
