The Austrian artist Alois Hänisch (actually: Alois Hanisch von Greifenthal) attended the art academy in Vienna in the years 1882-84. He then continued his education at the academy in Munich. After completing his studies, he also established his studio here. Hänisch mainly painted landscapes, interiors and still lifes. The artist received international recognition for his work in 1900, when he showed his paintings at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. Hänisch regularly exhibited at the exhibitions of the Wiener and Münchener Sezession, in the early 20th century.
