As a young painter, the Hungarian painter Andras Gombar consciously distanced himself from post-war artistic innovation and opted for traditional drawing and painting techniques. He paints in a classical-realistic style, mostly still lifes. He became known both in Hungary and abroad in particular with his kitchen still lifes, in which he elevates small, unimportant things into objects of great beauty. Gombar initially only made drawings. Only later in his career did he discover the expressive power of paint.
