Painter of romantic sea and river views, mostly with ships. Not much more is known about the painter than that he lived and worked in Rotterdam for most of his life. In 1852 he left for Amsterdam, where he became a member of Arti et Amicitiae. He also made trips, for example along the coast of Normandy and along the Baltic Sea.
