Unconcerned with experimentation or innovation, Bart Peizel was a reserved impressionist, painting landscapes, townscapes, still lifes and portraits that attest to a great sensitivity to colour. He also drew and painted during study trips through France and Algeria. Peizel was married to the Amsterdam-born painter Thérèse Ansingh.
