About the life and work of British artist F.W. Bryson is little known to us. In 'British Artists 1880-1940' (Dictionary of British Art, vol. V), p. 83 it is mentioned that this painter exhibited his work in the Manchester City Art Gallery in 1938. The present work was painted by Bryson in 1956.
