The self-taught Chris Snijders, born in 1881, lived and worked in Rotterdam almost all his life. He mainly painted cityscapes, harbour views and landscapes in and around his hometown. Landscapes in North Africa and Zeeland and cityscapes of Bruges are also known by him.
