Cornelis Kloos was a painter and sculptor who first followed a training as a drawing teacher. Only after 1925, when he was 30, he opted for an existence as an artist. He took classes at the academy in The Hague, with Hans Hoffmann in Munich and with André Lhote in Paris. Kloos was a member of Pulchi Studio in The Hague and the Haagse Kunstkring. He painted in a realistic style mainly erotic nude figures, with young girls as models. He also painted some landscapes.
