Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Daniel Kaplan stays close to the tradition of his country in his tango paintings. The Argentine tango music and dance originated around 1880. At that time, in the poor neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, people gathered on the streets and in locals to forget the misery of the day with music and dance. These places were called 'milongas'. People still dance in the city's many milongas. By playing with light, Kaplan knows how to capture the atmosphere and emotions in these places of gathering.
