The oeuvre of the famous Swiss artist Edouard Marcel Sandoz mainly consists of figures and animals, executed in marble and bronze. The artist was born in Basel as a descendant of the extremely wealthy Sandoz family, owners of the chemical company of the same name. In 1905 he entered the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. The animal sculptures of this gifted sculptor in particular stand out for their beautiful form, originality and occasionally humorous undertones.
