The Amsterdam painter Everardus Mirani was a 19th century artist who, according to experts, devoted himself almost entirely to the depiction of the winter landscape. His preference was for snowy forest scenes with high, bare oaks and strongly subordinate figures and buildings, just as he learned from Andreas Schelfhout. But in the footsteps of his master he also painted various Gelderland summer landscapes and panoramic views near Haarlem. The painter took an active part in the exhibitions of Living Masters between 1840 and 1880 and became a member of Arti et Amicitiae in 1850.
