Frederika Breuer-Wikman was born in Amsterdam in 1828 and mainly painted flower still lifes. She lived and worked in Rotterdam and The Hague. Wikman was probably inspired by the works of her contemporary Margaretha Roosenboom (1843-1896). There is even a chance that they knew each other, since they both worked in The Hague around 1870. The subjects and her painting technique are strongly reminiscent of Roosenboom's. Breuer-Wikman exhibited in 1890 at the exhibition of Living Masters in The Hague.
