Gabriel Germain Joncherie, whose exact date of birth and death are unknown, worked as a painter of still lifes and interiors in Paris. His compositions are wonderfully original. Unusual subjects and combinations of objects characterize his work: stuffed animals, art room objects, a bank counter, fried eggs on a stove. His trompe l'oeil still lifes and interiors with figures, often special in content, were also praised by critics in his time. Between 1831 and 1844 he exhibited at the Paris Salon.
