George Hogerwaard, brother of the painter François Hogerwaard, received his education at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam under Nico van der Waay. He was best known for his beautifully painted still lifes, nudes and portraits. As a teacher at the Academy in The Hague, he counted Hil Bottema and Laurens Jannis Braams among his students.
