Georges Jeannin was born in Paris in 1841. As a pupil of the then well-known French artist Victor Vincelet, he developed into a beloved painter of still lifes. Especially the refined deep red and violet of his roses were praised. From 1868 he exhibited at the Paris Salon, where his work is well discussed and sold. Together with the still life painter Achille Theodore Cesbron, Jeannin decorated the panels of the 'Salon de Passage' in the city hall of Paris.
