Gérard Crehay was a Belgian landscape painter, student at the academy in Liège, where his first teacher was J.B. Vieillevoye. After a stay in Paris, where he moved in Dutch and French painting circles - he was a friend of Corot - he settled in Spa. The landscape around this city was a source of inspiration for his paintings.
