Hendrik van Bloem was a versatile artist. Under the influence of his adviser Th. De Bock he painted and drew impressionistic cityviews and landscapes. He also made sets for De Nederlandse Opera. During trips to France (including Barbizon), London and Italy, he made many sketches.
