Henk Leurs learned to paint in the early 20th century from his father, the Hague landscape painter Johannes Karel Leurs. He developed into a sensitive impressionist, whose work is seen as post-Hague School. He made drawings paintings and watercolours of a great variety of subjects, such as landscapes, cityscapes, still-lifes and interiors. This painting shows that he occasionally used a more colorful palette.
