Hennie de Korte

Rush hour at the station
oil on canvas 70.0 x 90.1 cm, signed l.r.

This painting was previously for sale.

Born in 1941 in Utrecht, Hennie de Korte left for Australia with his parents at the age of 10 where he would study at the art academy in Sydney. He travels around and returns to the Netherlands in 1983. In Rotterdam, he studied at the art academy for another three years. De Korte mainly paints landscapes and cityscapes that depict 20th-century street life with the typical fashion of the first decades of that century. A populated shopping street, a tea hour or a hustle and bustle at a fair: in an impressionistic touch, De Korte puts his subject on the canvas, paying close attention to the light and the atmosphere.
