Jo Bouman received a traditional painting training at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam under Allebé and N. van der Waay. She then attended the then famous applied arts school in Haarlem, where innovative artists such as Chris Lebeau taught. She painted landscapes, flowers and portraits in her own expressionist style. Was married to Herman Kruyder.
