Johann Jungblut lived and worked in Düsseldorf for most of his life and is therefore considered part of the well-known Düsseldorfer Schule. Dutch painting was a source of inspiration for him and he was best known for his impressionistic winter landscapes with a low sun. He also had a penchant for painting the Norwegian winter landscape and the fjords. He made frequent trips to these countries.
