Pupil of the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague and of J.J. Eeckhout. Johannes Mattheus Bogman lived and worked mainly in this city and in Delft. Bogman specialized in painting genre scenes and scenes from Dutch history, and was also a lithographer.
