Kees Koppenol was an artist who was familiar with all kinds of genres. He painted landscapes as well as cityscapes, interiors, still lifes and figures in a unique atmosphere and presentation. From 1910 to 1913 he lived in Nunspeet in Veluwe, where farm life served as the model for his paintings. He then settled permanently in The Hague. In the years that followed, Koppenol painted many scenes from Scheveningen boulevard life and beach views, in which he managed to capture the atmosphere and colours of a Dutch summer day well.
