The French painter Louis Abel-Truchet painted historical pieces, genre scenes, portraits, still lifes, city scenes (especially of Paris), landscapes and gardens, in an impressionistic style. After completing his studies at the Académie Julian in Paris, he quickly established a name for himself as an independent artist and attracted attention with his colourful and lively work. From 1891 onwards, he regularly participated in the Parisian Salons such as the Salon d’Automne and the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
