Marc Mulders is one of the most famous and successful Dutch artists of the moment. He lives and works at Landgoed Baest near Oirschot, where he draws inspiration from the field sown with wild flowers near his house and the surrounding nature. From various flowers such as tulips, irises and sunflowers to vast abstracted flower fields and nocturnes; Mulders paints what the season throws at him and finds inspiration in the beauty of the cycle of life and death in nature. With his work he shares his emotions with the viewer, his joy about paint and colour, plants and animals and light. About, as he put it in 2020: 'dawn and evening, the mystical light of the dew and the spiritually mystical light of the setting sun.' Mulders often paints in series, working in wet, pasty paint, often on big format. He paints his smaller canvases in his studio on wheels, after a design by Piet Hein Eek. Mulders is also active as a glazier. His stained glass windows can be found in Sint- Janskathedraal in Den Bosch and the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, among others. The glass in the Nieuwe Kerk was presented to Queen Beatrix as a national gift in 2005 and was a sensation in terms of form, content and symbolism. Mulders has many exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad to his name and has been awarded several prizes. His work is included in collections of De Pont, Centraal Museum, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Museum Flehite, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, among others.
