Danish painter, student at the Copenhagen Academy from 1880-1884. He then traveled to France and Italy. Made romantically tinted impressionist landscapes, genre scenes and portraits. He was director of the Copenhagen Academy, art critic and in 1899 founder of the magazine 'Kunst'. Dorph also worked in Germany, where he received an honorable mention for his work in Berlin.
