The Brabant painter Paul Rink is little known to the general public. Completely wrong, because anyone who sees his work is immediately charmed by the characterful scenes and the light, warm palette of the painter. The artist obtained his secondary school drawing certificate at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and subsequently learned to paint at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (1882-1886). He then traveled for three years on a scholarship through Southern Europe and North Africa. Back in the Netherlands, he frequently painted the life of the fishermen on Marken and Volendam, and sunny scenes of flowers in Hattem. Paul Rink died young and left a small oeuvre as a result.
