Tancrède Synave

The rocking horses
oil on canvas 60.0 x 72.8 cm, signed l.l.

This painting was previously for sale.

Provenance: part. bezit Frankrijk.

The French society painter Tancrède Synave is best known for his depictions of children playing, Parisian city scenes, park and theater scenes and (women) portraits. His bright colour palette, his firm style and the choice of subjects are somewhat reminiscent of the work of the modernist French painters Henri Lebasque and Louis Valtat. From 1893, Synave regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants in Paris, where he was awarded several times.
