Ton van Baar (1928) is a sculptor who creates a powerful, robust design language in bronze, copper and (corten) steel that can best be described as abstract-lyrical. The initial concept for the artist is nature. Van Baar is originally a blacksmith and has taught in this profession for many years. He knew his material and its resistances through and through when he was trained as an artist at the Nieuwe Academie in Utrecht at a later age.
