Painter of landscapes, still lifes and flowers. Simonin belonged to the 'Sillonisten', a group of young Belgian painters, students of the Academy in Brussels, who rediscovered impressionism around 1900. The rendering of light in rich colours, spontaneous brushstrokes and an excessive paint application characterized the work of these painters.
