Of all the children of Henriëtte Ronner-Knip, Alice was the one who most followed in her mother's footsteps. At a young age she developed into a beloved painter of flowers and still lifes. Her schooling was thorough: she had to practice drawing until she was fourteen, after which she only started painting. Like Henriette, who in fact combined the animal piece and still life, Alice was a keen observer. this led to a great sophistication in material expression. Like most Brussels artists of her time, Alice was a member of the Cercle des Femmes Peintres.
