The name of the Rotterdam native André Verhorst is inextricably linked to Den Bosch, where from 1922 he headed the art department of the Royal School of Art, Technology and Craft for more than thirty-five years. Verhorst was originally a teacher, until in 1912 he definitively opted for the painting profession. He painted portraits, still lifes and landscapes in an idiosyncratic, impressionistic style.
