Bram Segaar was a student of the Vrije Akademie of Leiden, was taught by W.H. van der Nat, Floris Verster and H.M. Krabbé in Laren. He painted and watercoloured landscapes in a naturalistic-figurative style, and in particular water features and lake views, still lifes, flowers and figures. Was called 'the painter of the Nieuwkoop lakes'.
