Bramine Hubrecht came from a wealthy family; her father was Secretary General of Internal Affairs, her brother became a professor and her sister Maria also pursued a career in the visual arts. Bramine enjoyed her education at both the Hague and Amsterdam academy. Her oeuvre is varied, in an impressionistic style she paints landscapes, portraits and genre pieces in which she seems to have a preference for domestic scenes. Her sketches in particular show the speed with which she works. During her life she exhibited regularly, was a member of Arti et Amicitiae and Pulchri Studio and won several prizes and awards. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam owns many of her drawings.
