Carel Lodewijk Hansen, pupil of Pieter Pietersz. Barbers, painted landscapes, cityscapes, neighbourhoods and interior houses with figures. Particularly appreciated were his vistas through a door or gate on a garden, courtyard or village road. Hansen lived in Haarlem for a number of years and returned to Amsterdam about 1792, where he became a member of Felix Meritis. He taught his son Lambertus Johannes Hansen (1803-1859).
