Carl Albert Feldmann was born in Cologne in 1894 and then studied at the Technische Hogeschool in Delft and the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague. Around 1938 he came into contact with the painter-art educator H.P. Bremmer and his circle. Influenced by his advice, Feldmann's style became realistic, in the vein of Jaap Nieweg and T.G.M. by Hettinga Tromp. The artist's strength lies in his depiction of tranquil life, both in terms of his cityscapes and in his still lifes, which are simply set up in sensitive colour tones.
