Literature: Theo Raaphorst, 'Cornelis Raaphorst (1875-1954). Meer dan katjesspel', Wassenaar 2014, afb. in kleur pag. 76.
Cornelis Raaphorst started out painting still lifes, flowers and landscapes, but later made a specialization out of playful kittens. He portrayed them in all their antics, surrounded by colourful draperies and precious objects. He was without doubt inspired by the works of Henriëtte Ronner-Knip, although his paintings bear a unique signature style.
