Provenance: part. bezit België.
The Belgian painter Dolf van Roy lived and worked mainly in Brussels all his life. His oeuvre includes lavish flower bouquets, carefully composed still lifes and river views. Possibly under the influence of Alfred Stevens, he also painted nudes and richly dressed fashionable women in their boudoir, surrounded by precious furniture and objects. His work is characterized by an impressionist touch and a warm colour palette. Van Roy exhibited at the Salon in Brussels, among others.
