The paintress Edith Basch was born in Budapest in 1895, but her desire to travel brought her to Paris, that was the international capital for art during the Interbellum. She held exhibitions there between 1928 and 1931 at the Salon des Indépenants, the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. Edith Basch predominantly painted portraits, nudes and still lifes. Her style can be described as realistic, where the figure paintings often have a psychological undertone.
